▶ 파버샴의 아든(희곡)(Arden of Feversham by William Shakespeare and Rev. (Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers)에 등록되었으며, 같은 해 출간되었습니다. (Place of the Play in the Elizabethan Drama.)에 대한 설명, 실제 사건에 대한 간략한 줄거리(Source of the Play.)와 연극의 저자(Author of the Play.) (The Question of Shakespeare’s Authorship.) (The 2016 edition of The Oxford Shakespeare)에서는 셰익스피어와 익명의 협력자를 저자로 간주한 바 있습니다. 그런데 블랙 윌과 쉐이크백은 대체 어디로 도망간 것일까요?!▶ The Question of Shakespeare’s Authorship. The only reason for ascribing the play to Shakespeare is its merit. It seems incredible that a drama so mature in its art should have been written in 1592 by a writer otherwise unknown to us. In three directions the art of the writer is mature.▷ 셰익스피어의 저자에 대한 질문. 작가의 예술은 세 가지 방향에서 탁월합니다.▶ First, the character of the base coward Mosbie, and of the ‘bourgeois Clytemnestra,’ Alice Arden, are drawn with an insight, delicacy, and sustained power new to English literature in 1592, and not excelled till Shakespeare excelled them. The picture of Arden, as a man fascinated and bewitched by his wife and by his fate, might match that of Mosbie and Alice if the artist had not blurred his conception by the introduction of the jarring motives of avarice and sacrilege. But the poet’s aim is clear; it is his own, and it almost succeeds. 그것은 자신의 것이며 거의 성공합니다.▶ Second, the picturesque ferocity and grim humour of Black Will and Shakebag are described with a firmness and ease and restraint of style which critics have not sufficiently noted. I can compare it only with the Jack Cade scenes of the Contention. The prose of our poet is excellent. His humour has a clearly defined character and style of its own. The character of Michael, so admired by Mr. Swinburne, is as subtle and well-sustained as Mosbie’s or Alice Arden’s, and it exhibits our poet’s special humorous gift. This gift, excellent as it is, seems to me very definitely not Shakespearean. 이 선물은 그 자체로 훌륭하지만 나에게 셰익스피어가 아닌 것 같습니다.▶ But thirdly, the terrifying use of signs and omens and of an almost Shakespearean irony—e.g. Arden’s words, ‘I am almost stifled with this fog!’—combine to produce as the play proceeds an impressive sense of ‘the slow unerring tread of assassination, balked but persevering, marching like a fate to its accomplishment.’ 아덴의 말, '이 안개로 거의 숨이 막힐 뻔했습니다!'-극이 진행됨에 따라 결합하여 '어수선하지만 끈질기게 암살의 느린 발걸음을 내딛고, 운명처럼 행군하여 그 성취를 이루었다'는 인상적인 느낌을 연출합니다.▶ Unless Shakespeare wrote this play as soon as he reached London, and then for a year or two wrote nothing else, it is impossible to fit it into his work. And if he wrote the play as soon as he reached London and then took up the studies which resulted in Venus and Adonis and Lucrece, would he have written Love’s Labour’s Lost and Comedy of Errors on his way back to work like Arden? If Shakespeare wrote Arden it is the most interesting fact in his literary development. To suggest that Shakespeare revised the play is to shirk the question. Its excellence is in its warp and woof, not in its ornaments.▷ 셰익스피어가 런던에 도착하자마자 이 희곡을 쓰고 1~2년 동안 다른 작품을 쓰지 않는 한, 그것을 그의 작품에 맞추는 것은 불가능합니다.
