A Company Like Family? A "Freaking" Family Company!! <Manager Lee's Survival Story>

Hello.

The work I'll be introducing today is about a company with a 'family-like' motto,

and centers around Manager Lee Kyung-min, who works at this "freaking" family-run SME,

as the main character.

'Hunsung Tech', an SME whose main business is producing small plastic products.

The CEO, the CEO's son, the CEO's brother-in-law, the CEO's younger brother,

and even the CEO's daughter-in-law...

Mobilizing the entire family to inherit a position each, it's a typical "freaking" family company

that squeezes the subordinate employees, who belong to other families.

The protagonist, Manager Lee Kyung-min, with his outstanding work efficiency and cleverness,

lives as the most important part of the company.

When Manager Lee Kyung-min's patience, after years of such struggle,

reaches its limit, an amazing thing happens

to his body.

Currently serialized on Naver Webtoon, <Manager Lee's Survival Story>.

Let's begin the review.

'Uh, Manager Lee. Are you feeling any better?'

'We're dying here too. The prime contractor keeps rejecting it.'

'I know it's hard, but we need you to come back

for at least a few days, Manager Lee.'

Lee Kyung-min goes to the office alone at dawn before the sun even rises.

An office manager, he was recently diagnosed with sudden sensorineural hearing loss

due to overwork and stress.

Working at a small plastic injection molding factory in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do,

Kyung-min takes care of everything from production and delivery

to material inventory checks and ordering.

He is handling all of it by himself.

However, even though he grinds himself to the bone, the salary he actually receives

is less than that of foreign production workers who run both day and night shifts.

That was his reality.

In his mid-thirties, as he gets older,

it became difficult for him to just quit his job right away.

'How should I live my life?'

6:32 AM.

His day begins by announcing the start of work on the public messenger.

After having breakfast at the factory cafeteria,

and handling dormitory personnel management and other trivial matters,

the factory officially starts running right at 9 o'clock.

Morning assembly.

Cleaning supervision.

Going back to the office to prepare for meetings.

Meanwhile, dealing with defect-related complaints from clients.

After bowing and scraping to an unseen person over the phone

and sorting out the situation, the production manager comes up to the office

to check on what happened.

"Manager Lee, I heard there was a defect."

"I promised to send a countermeasure report by tomorrow.

 It's not a big problem."

Hearing that it wasn't a big deal, the production manager goes back

to the site, and Kyung-min finally takes a breather.

Having handled the work all by himself from 6:30 AM throughout the morning,

Kyung-min thinks he desperately needs a countermeasure for himself.

Then comes lunchtime.

Checking the time, Kyung-min goes to the locker room instead of the cafeteria

and changes into antistatic clothing.

Then, to fill in for the shortage of personnel during lunch,

he goes to cover the shift of a Thai worker so they can eat.

Although he didn't join as a production worker, being able to operate machines

and perform simple troubleshooting is a virtue

required for anyone working at this company.

After quickly spending an hour on the site and returning to the office,

Kyung-min leans back in his chair, looking exhausted.

Then, with a subordinate who came to ask him to eat together,

he finally has his lunch.

Living in the company dormitory, Kyung-min fetches a bowl noodle

from his room for Kyung-joo,

who subtly brought up cup noodles.

He doesn't eat them often himself, but Kyung-joo, who is a picky eater,

would sometimes mention cup noodles

like this when she doesn't like the factory cafeteria menu.

The reason he subtly takes care of her is simple.

She is the most competent subordinate he has,

and she followed him well.

In the afternoon, he gets his reports approved

by Team Leader Kim Myung-chul, the CEO's son.

The team leader, who was called back by the CEO while studying abroad,

was a nice person, but had no sense for work.

After the clever Kyung-min joined, he was pushed out of the office

and was now learning injection molding technology in earnest.

Having spent the entire day packed with unfulfilling tasks, Kyung-min

only returns to his dormitory room after 9 PM.

His eyes had been dry all day, and Kyung-min discovers

a spot spreading in his eye.

Worried about the spot, he books an ophthalmologist appointment

and decides to at least go to the mart to buy some late-night snacks.

Leaving his dorm room, he bumps into production workers in the hallway,

and goes to the mart with Nepalese workers Kamsara

and Suzy.

While pushing the cart around, Kyung-min repeatedly rubs

his strangely uncomfortable eyes.

"Manager, what's wrong? Do your eyes hurt?"

"No, I think something just got in my eye."

After rubbing his eyes for a while, Kyung-min suddenly feels refreshed

and raises his head to look ahead.

A short distance ahead, Kamsara, who had come with him, was picking out milk.

Right then, Kyung-min experiences something incredible.

The product information densely written in tiny letters

on the milk Kamsara was holding far away looked as if it was magnified.

Seeing Kyung-min fall to the floor in shock, Suzy beside him

worries, but Kyung-min cannot hear anything.

Returning to the dormitory and checking his eyes again, Kyung-min

discovers that the spot he saw earlier has completely disappeared

and is amazed.

And the next day.

After arriving at work at dawn and finishing his morning tasks, Kyung-min

goes to the hospital in time for his appointment.

His eyesight has suddenly improved so much that he can catch

minute defects invisible to others' eyes.

Seeing Kyung-min read out every single letter on the eye chart,

the doctor is astounded.

"I've never seen such perfect eye conditions. Both of them."

Kyung-min brings up the purple spot that briefly appeared and disappeared in his eye,

but when the doctor recommends a thorough examination, he declines and leaves

the hospital.

Kyung-joo, who contacted him during lunch break upon hearing that he went to the hospital,

tells him that another foreign employee, who heard from the production workers

they went to the mart with yesterday about Kyung-min collapsing,

is on the verge of crying.

Although it's a company that constantly preaches being like family, Kyung-min

feels true family-like affection from those who

genuinely worry about him.

'Hunsung Tech', a family company maintained by grinding down its people.

In a company with no future and no sense of achievement, how will Kyung-min's days change

after suddenly gaining super sight?
