Rose Peil knows her role in this romance fantasy novel. She is a doomed side character meant to die at the hand of Belial le Serenity, the obsessive second male lead. She accepts her fate, since life as a side character feels dull and meaningless, but Belial refuses to follow the plot or grant her desired death. Her attempts to provoke his cruel side only make him more devoted, until he proposes instead. Can she claim her destined death when her would-be killer keeps choosing love instead?
