The Second Order Founding Preparatory Unit still has no banner. What it has are names, battered shields, septic-blood records, a broken bridge, and people learning how to leave a road open for return. New companions join as the unit works through mud, repairs crossings, and learns the meaning of the shield's lower edge. Then a white wolf appears—something that does not move like an ordinary beast. The Muddy Bridge follows a unit still unfinished, building its identity one returned life, one recorded name, and one hard-earned rule at a time.
