Here, I will make a fresh start. <A Peaceful Maid Life Hiding Her Power>

Hello!

The webtoon I'll be introducing today is currently being serialized on KakaoPage,
and it's called <A Peaceful Maid Life Hiding Her Power>.

The protagonist ended the Great War by sacrificing herself,
becoming a great swordsman and a hero of the era.
However, in reality, she was a cross-dressing woman
who lived by borrowing her dead younger brother's identity.

She opened her eyes again four years after her death, but
with nothing left but her body, she was forced to choose
the path of a maid to make a living.
This is the story of a legendary hero
starting her new life as a maid.

Let's begin the review.

The protagonist of this webtoon is Daisy.

Every morning, Daisy sweeps the front porch clean
and waters the flowerbeds. This was her daily routine
assigned to her as a maid of the Weatherwoods family.

In truth, watering the flowerbeds is the gardener's job, but
here, there was no such distinction. The three of them had to
share and do all the household chores.
This was because the master's wallet was severely tight.

Just then, Baron Feathergile clears his throat
to announce his arrival.
At that, the head maid opens the door he is standing by and says,

"Are you here again, Baron Feathergile?
As I told you last time, and the time before that,
we have no intention of selling the mansion."

Pushing past the head maid who asked him to return,
Baron Feathergile yells.

"How arrogant! I'm not here for that today!
Today, I must meet the new
 Viscount Weatherwoods without fail!"

The head maid tells him the master is away, but
the Baron does not accept it.

"That's the third time you've used that excuse this month!
I've been watching, and only three servants ever come out of this mansion!
Do you even know it's rumored to be a haunted house in the village?!
To leave such a remarkably beautiful mansion
 in this beggar-like state...!"

Despite the head maid's attempts to stop him, Baron Feathergile
steps inside the house and shouts.

"I can't tolerate this anymore either!
If my dear friend, the Viscount, knew his mansion was ruined like this,
 how heartbroken would he be!!
Time sure flies. Has it already been four years
since he died in the Magic War? I truly miss him."

When the head maid once again urges him to leave,
the Baron calls out and stops Daisy.
He then asks Daisy a few things, but
unable to tolerate Daisy answering him informally,
the Baron raises his hand to strike her.

However, Daisy throws the first punch,
smashing the Baron into the wall. At this, the head maid scolds Daisy.

"Ms. Daisy! I told you a maid must always endure.
Even without you using your strength, we can handle
 sick raccoons like him."

The two men who came with the Baron are also helplessly
beaten by Daisy's hands.
Daisy replies to the head maid while beating them up.

"I am enduring it. But my right hand is currently in a rebellious phase.
 I'll scold it later."

Just as the head maid instructed, Daisy threw
the three idiots out of the mansion.
The head maid says to Daisy,

"It was self-defense in a way, so we should be able to
smooth things over. Trust in the Weatherwoods family."

Because she was a maid and the other was the head maid,
Daisy believed those words.
But as they say, hardship is another name for a maid,
and in the end, she gets sued by the Baron
for assault and intimidation.

A few days ago, Daisy went to see an interviewer
for a job interview.
When the interviewer asked why she wanted to become a maid,
Daisy answered it was for the money.
Following up, when asked what kind of employer she wanted,
Daisy replied like this:

"A mansion so grueling and nasty that no one would notice
even if someone worked to death. A wicked employer who wrings their servants dry."

Daisy thought to herself.

'That's just right. Even for my own purpose.'

At that, the interviewer came close to Daisy
with a bright face and said,

"You are very lucky!
It's rare to find a job right away like this."

A mansion located in a bustling area, belonging to a
historic family renowned throughout the empire.
The interviewer added that it's an honor
to be able to work in such a place.

"I only have one thing to ask of you.
Please endure for at least a week before you quit~!"

And so, Daisy found herself standing in front of a mansion
that looked as if demons would pop out of it.

Daisy decided to wait, thinking the doorbell was broken, but
even after an hour passed, no one came out.
Eventually, when Daisy grabbed and shook the gate bars,
a woman ran out in a hurry and said,

"Sorry I'm late. You must be Daisy Farger, the new maid, right?
I am the head maid of the Weatherwoods mansion.
Before we go inside, Ms. Daisy.
Normally, maids aren't allowed to use the main gate and front door, but
here, you can just use them. And please don't shake it like that."

The head maid showed her around the Viscount's estate and explained.

"The employees are just you, me, and the cook-slash-gardener
who will arrive in four days. That's everyone.
Salary is paid on the 1st of every month, and the daily routine starts at 6 AM
 and ends at 7 PM."

Daisy is shown to the room she will use.
Before leaving the room, the head maid warns Daisy.

"Lastly, there's only one thing you must keep in mind.
 Never enter the master's bedroom.
If anyone asks for his whereabouts, tell them he went out."

Left alone in her room, Daisy lies on the bed and thinks.

'This is decent enough.
While working inconspicuously in this place,
I have to find those items within the next three years.
 Or else, I will die.'

However, once she actually started her maid duties,
she truly felt like dying.
It was an endless cycle of dusting and scrubbing all day long.

When Daisy finally got to eat dinner,
she took one bite of the food and said,

"It tastes bad.... It's awful."

Yet, right in front of Daisy who said that,
sat two empty plates she had already finished off.
Quietly watching her, the head maid said,

"Honestly... I've seen countless maids pass through
the Weatherwoods family, but I've never seen a maid like you, Ms. Daisy.
How did you end up doing maid work?"

At the head maid's question, Daisy's past
flashed through her mind like a kaleidoscope.
Seeing Daisy standing still, the head maid added.

"If it's hard to answer, you don't have to.
Who in the world doesn't have a story?
Doesn't everyone live with at least one sad story in their heart?"

With the secrets of her past hidden,
what kind of new life will Daisy unfold as a maid?
