A sweet and spicy, farm-to-table rural romance! <Meet Me in the Pepper Patch!>
Hello!
Today, the webtoon I'll be introducing is currently serialized on KakaoPage,
<Meet Me in the Pepper Patch!>.
Not only did our main character, the sole daughter of a wealthy conglomerate family, face consecutive business failures, but she also
caused a massive incident by carelessly posting on social media.
Consequently, under the orders of her furious father, she gets
exiled to a rural village.
Accustomed to city life, the protagonist screams in despair at the
boondocks scenery unfolding before her eyes. However, after meeting
an incredibly handsome young farmer living at the edge of the pepper patch, she does a complete 180.
She instantly regains her motivation and aggressively
makes her move on him in this romantic comedy.
Let's begin the review.
This webtoon's protagonist, Tae-mi, is the
cherished daughter of TS Group's Chairman Kang Tae-san in Seoul.
Sweating profusely, Tae-mi nervously gauges her father's mood.

As Tae-mi blames the newspaper for publishing the article about her,
her father hits her with the harsh truth.
"Does that change the fact that you're the one
who posted an olive leaf claiming it was a pepper leaf?"
It was an incident caused by mistaking an olive leaf for a pepper leaf.
Tae-mi makes excuses, saying the controversy will soon die down,
but her father isn't buying it.
"Even after you ruined several new businesses,
I gave you another chance just because you're my daughter, didn't I?
Because of your one immature action, the company's stock
plummeted by 7 percent. How are you going to fix this?
This is exactly why I told you to quit that damn
Insta-whatever or Psycho-gram, didn't I?"
To her raging father, Tae-mi vaguely makes excuses,
claiming that CEOs of other companies have also revamped their corporate images through things like this and gained
popularity among Gen Z.
Appalled by Tae-mi's unapologetic attitude, her father speaks
in disbelief.
"You completely shattered the image of our Rabbit Gochujang
before it even launched, and now what are you blabbering about?"
Tae-mi feels wronged, arguing that it's the fault of the guy who sent the picture in the first place,
but her father quickly draws the line and comes to a conclusion.
He tells her to just get married already.
The name her father brings up is 'Ok Hae-chan'.
He is the third-generation only son of 'Ok Doenjang', the number one soybean paste brand in the country.
Tae-mi jumps up and objects.
'I didn't stay single for 33 years
just to marry a playboy like him!
Can't you tell from looking at your and Mother's marriage?
A loveless marriage is such a tragedy!'
However, her father asserts that if she marries him, it's only a matter of time before TS Group
solidifies its position as the number one sauce brand in the country.
At this, Tae-mi shouts in disbelief.
"Dad! Are you telling me to sacrifice my life
for the sake of the company right now?"
Then, her father slyly asks, as if laying a trap.
He asks if she's willing to suffer out in the field then.
Tae-mi doesn't back down and bravely talks back, saying she'll
gladly roll around in the field, but at that moment, her father's expression
turns into a benevolent smile.
"Then go. Forget the factory, go to the pepper patch."

And so, Tae-mi is practically chased out to the pepper patch.
She bursts into sorrowful tears as she grabs the steering wheel and drives off herself.
"How could you exile your precious and pretty daughter
to the middle of nowhere! Threatening to confiscate my credit cards if I didn't go,
how could you do this!! You cold-blooded..."
Right then, the car screeches and slides before suddenly
coming to a complete stop. Of all things, the wheel had
fallen into a deep pothole.
Tae-mi recalls the main culprit of all this tragedy, 'Redpepper King',
and pours out her resentment.
"Redpepper king! You son of a b*tch!! This is all your fault!
I'm definitely going to find you and make you pay!"

Hearing rustling sounds from the pitch-black surroundings,
Tae-mi gets scared, wondering if
some wild animal has appeared.
Just then, a cat with folded ears
walks out from the bushes, and Tae-mi immediately runs over
and crouches down in front of it.
"Gasp! It's the cheese tabby cat I've always wanted to raise!
Where's your mom? Are you all alone too?
Crying all by yourself in the rain, you look just like me..."
Tae-mi mutters as she carefully picks up the cat.
"Alright, Patricia. Let's go together."
But at that moment, she spots a man
quietly standing behind her and lets out an ear-piercing scream.
Terrified, all sorts of ominous thoughts
flash through Tae-mi's mind.
'He looks exactly like a serial killer from a movie!!
As if getting exiled wasn't enough,
meeting my end in the middle of a deserted country road!!'
As Tae-mi squeezes her eyes shut, the man asks her in a low voice.
"Do you need some help?"
Tae-mi trembles and warns the man.
"S-stop right there! If you come any closer, I'm calling the cops!
If you t-touch me, you'll regret it later, so get lost..."
While backing away warily, Tae-mi suddenly twists her ankle
and is about to fall, but in that split second, the man catches
her with lightning speed.
As Tae-mi struggles, telling him to let her go, the man doesn't let go
and asks while holding her firmly.
"Are you okay? Can you walk?"
At the close proximity to the man's face, Tae-mi blushes
and quickly slips out of his arms.
'Right, a serial killer wouldn't be this nice.'
Relieved, she tries to move, but it's not easy
because her ankle throbs. After checking the condition of her stalled car,
the man asks for her destination and offers to take her nearby.
Tae-mi's mind becomes complicated.
'Is it really okay to follow this man?
The world is such a scary place these days!'
Eventually, Tae-mi asks him to just make a call to a towing company
for her, but the man shakes his head and calmly explains.
"As you can see, we're out in the sticks, so there are no
professional towing companies nearby. There is someone who
does a similar job, but even if we call him, it will take
at least an hour and a half to get here.
Can you stay here alone until then?"
At his words, the thought of being left alone in the middle of a country road
late at night brings a terrible sense of anxiety rushing over Tae-mi.

Tae-mi quickly shakes her head from side to side.
Then she notices the pink scooter the man brought with him.
The man readily takes off his raincoat
and puts it on Tae-mi.
And so, already miserable about being chased out of Seoul,
Tae-mi finds herself sitting on a scooter seat between
the legs of a man she's never seen before.
Out of wariness, she deliberately tries to sit at a distance from him,
but the rough bumping of the unpaved road makes her
shriek.
Then, the man pulls Tae-mi closely into his embrace,
supporting her steadily.
Shortly after, they arrive at '136 Suchang-ri',
which Tae-mi had stated as her destination. The man safely drops her off
and immediately leaves the spot without any lingering attachment.
After all those twists and turns, Tae-mi
finally arrives at Mr. Ko Gwi-nam's house.
Exiled to an unfamiliar rural village overnight,
Tae-mi unexpectedly receives help from a strange man on her very first day.
Will Tae-mi, the arrogant sole daughter of a chaebol family with 'max-level city girl' skills,
be able to safely survive this rugged countryside
and return to Seoul?
